Career Biography
Chris Meyer is a seasoned executive with nearly 20 years experience of making an impact in the climate and energy sectors. He currently develops battery energy storage systems (BESS) for East Point Energy. Previous to joining East Point Energy, he was the Executive Director of the Local Energy Alliance Program (LEAP), a non-profit organization in the climate and energy sector supporting the deployment of energy solutions in the state of Virginia. During his tenure, he led a team serving multiple private and public sector clients on addressing issues related to climate change, affordable housing, renewable energy deployment, including solar, as well as increasing the economic efficiency of commercial and residential buildings. Despite market challenges faced during the pandemic, he executed a significant strategy change for the organization that grew the amount of households served by 230%, revenue by 300%, and staff by 250%. Before leading LEAP, Meyer worked over 10 years on climate policy and advocacy at the Environmental Defense Fund where he rose through the proverbial ranks to lead the forest-climate policy team's international negotiations and institutions work around carbon markets. Throughout his career, Chris has co-authored several academic papers and multiple Op-Eds.
